Why iAmClinic feels different
If you found us by searching for gay stories, you’re not alone. Many people start by looking for real experiences that feel affirming and relatable—then decide they want support that actually “gets it.” At iAmClinic, LGBTQIA+ care isn’t a checkbox. It’s our community, our values, and how we practice.
- Minority Led & Inclusion Focused: culturally responsive, affirming, and non-judgmental care.
- 50+ Years of Cumulative Experience: a team that stays current through ongoing training and certifications.
- LGBTQIA+ Is Our Community: queer-led, community-connected, and built to support LGBTQIA+ lived realities.
You shouldn’t have to educate your therapist on identity, safety, or what acceptance and rights can feel like day-to-day. Our goal is to meet you with respect, clarity, and care that’s grounded in both lived understanding and clinical skill.

iAmClinic vs. a typical “general” therapy practice
| What you’re looking for | Typical general practice | iAmClinic |
|---|---|---|
| LGBTQIA+ competence | Varies; may be affirming, but not always specialized | LGBTQIA+-competent care; many clinicians are community members |
| Safety & cultural humility | Varies; may unintentionally assume cis/hetero norms | Trauma-aware, non-judgmental, people-first language |
| Process clarity | Can feel unclear or inconsistent across providers | Clear next steps and low-pressure consult options |
| Access & affordability | Often private-pay only or limited insurance support | Medicaid accepted + out-of-network superbills where relevant |
| Therapist fit | Often “pick from a directory” with less guidance | Intentional matching based on identity, preferences, and needs |
| Approach | Varies widely by clinician | Evidence-informed, client-centered, collaborative |
Choosing a therapist is personal. This chart is here to make the decision simpler—not to pressure you.

The iAmClinic is my go to place in Denver for psychotherapy referrals for LGBTQ+ individuals ready to dive into their healing journey. I am a fellow psychotherapist, and deeply believe in the iAmClinic. Isaac, the owner, is a truly wonderful individual & clinician who is highly trained and passionate about providing clients with the best possible care. I know many of the clinicians who work there as well, and they are all tremendous people with huge hearts and solid skills.

It is hard to find an lgbt counseling practice in denver. Trust me, I looked. When I am opening up about some very vulnerable aspects of my life I want a therapist that not only is safe to share lgbt issues with but also someone who will recognize the struggle of being lgbt.
Iamclinic helped to create that safe environment and also empathize with the unique challenges of acceptance, rights and socio-cultural experience in our world.
I was introduced to neurofeedback which is something no other counselor suggested. Talk therapy was only getting me so far. Using this I was able to get some hard science on some of the struggles I have been facing and uninvasively tackle them. If you don’t know what this is “ask”! I think everyone should try it!

Yes. Each testimonial is a real review shared by a client or a professional colleague who has interacted with iAmClinic (as a client, referral source, or clinician in the community).
Because many people want reassurance from professionals too. Clinician testimonials show that other mental health providers trust iAmClinic enough to refer LGBTQIA+ clients for care.
No single set of reviews can reflect everyone’s experience. They’re meant to show patterns—like feeling safe, understood, and supported—so you can decide if this environment sounds like a fit for you.
Look for themes that match what you need, such as:
- Feeling affirmed and respected
- Feeling safe discussing identity, relationships, and vulnerability
- Clear communication and a supportive process
- Options beyond talk therapy when appropriate (ex: neurofeedback)
A good fit usually feels like: you don’t have to explain or defend who you are, you feel respected, and the therapist’s style aligns with your needs. A short consultation is the easiest way to confirm fit.
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive approach that uses brainwave feedback to support self-regulation. It can be useful when talk therapy alone isn’t getting you where you want to be.
